Bibles For Bogota Blesses Thousands

Bibles For The World was pleased to provide Spanish-language Gospels of John to attendees of the Luis Palau Association’s Festival Outreach to Bogota, Colombia, in August. More than 50,000 people received these copies of special edition Gospels of John printed especially for this outreach!  The effort brought together more than 850 churches and trained more than 12,000 local followers of Christ – all focused on a week-long campaign to saturate the city and surrounding region with the Gospel.

Bogota2“This was a special chance to participate in a truly historic event in Colombia,” said John Pudaite, Bibles For The World president.  “Luis Palau first preached in Bogota back in 1966, so the return to the Colombian city marked a special anniversary.  It was a pleasure to be able to provide God’s Word to thousands of people who came to the events of the Palau Festival.”

Due to his continuing struggle with cancer, Luis Palau was unable to attend the weeklong event — but his son Andrew, himself a world evangelist, preached to crowds that numbered in the tens of thousands. Bibles For The World has provided Scriptures for a number of Andrew’s evangelistic outreaches in Africa and the Caribbean, so this was a natural fit for the two ministries to work together.  And God truly blessed the collaborative effort as the Festival recorded nearly 20,000 decisions for Christ by attendees!

The Scriptures provided in Bogota were made possible by the contributions of many partners and friends of Bibles For The World who gave generously to reach people in Colombia who have struggled through decades of civil unrest, economic challenges and the drug trade.

“We’re so grateful for our partners who stepped up to help bring a revival to the people of Colombia,” said Pudaite.  “We’re praying that the enthusiasm for the Gospel that drew so many thousands to the Palau Festival will continue for years to come — and that the Gospel message will transform the lives of many thousands more.” [Photos by Brad Person, courtesy of the Luis Palau Association]

Turn on the LIGHT for Children in India

You Can Help Provide the Gift of LIGHT to Dispel the Darkness in India!

Turn on the light.  The darkness that shrouds your home at night gives way to the warm glow of a reading lamp — or a nice, shaded table lamp ideal for watching TV.

Light pushes away darkness and the fears that sometimes accompany inky, black nights.

You and I are accustomed to flipping a switch that makes this magic happen every evening when the sun slips below the horizon.  But for the thousands of children attending Bibles For The World’s schools in India — children sponsored by friends like you — their family homes are typically lit by nothing more than a feeble candle or two, or the dim light of a small cooking fire that peeks through the doorway.  If the family is better off than most, a single kerosene lantern might offer comfort from the darkness.  Imagine trying to work — or STUDY! — in those conditions!

While these children’s days are illuminated by the Light of Christ as they study God’s Word in school, their nights at home may be spent in virtual darkness.  Darkness that makes it practically impossible to work on their lessons for school.
Our goal is to improve the value of Christian education for every student in BFTW’s schools in India.  So let’s “turn on the light” for the thousands of sponsored children and their families who can’t afford even one electric light that would make life (and study) so much easier.
Please consider giving an immensely practical Christmas gift this year that will bless children in poverty — and their entire family, as well.

The kids in the photo are holding a solar-powered lamp.  It’s designed to help dispel the darkness in the most rugged and remote locations — which makes it the perfect gift for your child(ren) and his or her family.  Though it may not sound like the most glamorous gift for a needy child, it will be one of the most precious gifts they might ever receive.
Whether lighting up a home or providing light when walking at night, it provides four to eight hours of bright, LED light powered by the sun.  The gift of perpetual, self-renewing light.

To provide one solar-powered lamp costs only $18.00.  So, if you can give just $36 you will “turn on the light” two students and their families.
What a blessing it would be for thousands of families to receive this simple, effective and life-changing gift!

Will you please consider giving this special Christmas gift — and turning on the LIGHT for families in India?

World Racers Get Busy!

MedicalClinicThe 50+ members of the World Race team that descended on Bibles For The World’s ministry outreaches in India wasted no time getting busy to help!

Aided by 26 members of the World Race, a medical team from Sielmat Christian Hospital held a Free Medical Camp at Saiphai English School. In total, 506 patients were treated, from the school children, families, and other members of the village/area.  Many families in the area have children sponsored by BFTW “Partner Parents” and were eager participants at the medical camp.

Moving-Bricks-at-Chaltathol-for-the-ChurchAnother team got their hands a bit dirtier as they worked to help transport bricks for a building project.  The Evangelical Free Church of India at Chaltathol is building a new sanctuary with the help of BFTW partners — AND the willing hands of these members of the World Race team!
